The Brazil Project- Summer 2002
In the summer of 2002, I traveled to Brazil to conduct workshops at the Federal
University of Natal, Brazil. My student, Andrew Wolfgram and I had a wonderful
time sharing information and our individual approaches to working in clay
with enthusiastic students and community members. We visited kilns and craft
villages as can be seen in this photo essay.
An important result of the Brazil project was the establishment of an aggreement
between Colby-Sawyer College and the Federal University of Natal, Brazil. Our
host, ceramic artist Regina Guedes, plans to visit us in the near future.
I am grateful to the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and Colby-Sawyer
College for their support of this project.
Other recent projects in Kosei-in, and Kyushu,
Japan have provided valuable opportunities to collaborate and learn
from many friends and colleagues in the field.
